Breaking down your Goals and Adjusting your Habits
Focus less on your goals and outcomes and focus more on the habits and systems that produce the outcomes.
Knowing what you want to achieve is important, but you need a plan and a roadmap to get yourself there.
Your goals are your destination, the systems you create are your roadmap and your habits will determine if you actually get there.
How many times have you set goals and then weeks later completely forgotten about the goals you set?
How many times have you set your goals but you feel stuck not knowing what steps to take to get yourself to the finish line?
As we continue to break down our Q1 Stats, it’s important to celebrate our wins just as much as identify areas of improvement. When identifying your wins, also identify what helped you accomplish these goals. Knowing the habits you needed to form and the steps you had to take will help you find a clear path forward for your remaining goals as well.
Ask Yourself-
What are 3 habits that helped me reach my goals in Q1?
What are 3 adjustments I need to make to accomplish my remaining goals?
Now let’s breakdown each remaining goal into actionable steps-
Write out your goal and list clear steps you need to take to accomplish each one.
Quick Example:
Goal #1: Hire an Assistant so I can generate $50K more revenue by the end of 2023 without working more hou
Make a list of the tasks I work on every day for a week and set a deadline for hiring support.
Identify which tasks can be done by someone else
Determine which tasks can be done from a computer and which will require in person support.
Determine Fair Market Value for completing these tasks and use the list of tasks for each to create a job description
Speak to an assistant placement specialist to help locate and interview potential support staff.
Goals often feel overwhelming, especially when you don’t have a roadmap to follow. When you break down the goal into manageable tasks, it allows you to take everything one step at a time.
Now writing all this out is great, but now how will you ensure you take action and don’t forget?
This is where the habits come into play! Time blocking and utilizing project management platforms are habits that will help you stay organized and prevent you from missing deadlines.
